Landscape Painting Classes

Monday, July 14th - August 25th, 2025

From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Come join us for a morning of paint filled wonder! All levels of skill are welcome - some prior painting or art classes would be helpful. Oil, Watercolor and Acyllic painters welcome (Instructor Marilyn paints with oils.) Each session will start with Marilyn giving a short lecture on painting techniques using a hand-out and possibly a power-point or video presentation. There will be a demonstration painting using a reference photo, Marilyn will also teach the basic skills of plein air painting. Participants can either sign up on line or contact Big Bear Valley Recreation & Parks District.

Supplies / Materials List:

• Table Easel
• 8x 10, 9x12, 11x14, or 12x16 stretched canvas or board pane or 140lb watercolor paper
• Your choice of paint - Oil, acrylic or watercolor. Only bring odorless solvent for oils (Gamsol)
• Basic colors required: warm and cool red, warm and cool blue, warm and cool yellow, white and black. (Other colors are fine if you want to bring them.)
• Brushes: A basic set of flats or filberts to include: #2, #4, #6, #8, #10. Bring any other brushes that you like
• Palette can be your choice, Marilyn prefers the Masterson palettes
• Sketching paper of sketch book for thumbnail sketches
• Reference photo of a subject you would like to paint
• Drawing pencils and eraser
• Gloves and apron
